At the 20 June 2016 Board Meeting, the W.C. Service Co. made a detailed presentation on their water treatment service to prevent water pipe corrosion and pinhole leaks in our building water pipes. Their treatment consists of adding zinc ortho-phosphates to the buildings main water line.
The phosphates are food grade compounds that our government approved for use in drinking water. The orthophosphate protects the interior of our building waterlines by laying down a protective coating on the interior of the pipes. This microthin coating makes the pipes more resistant to corrosion and prevents pinhole leaks. This system is used by Marriott hotels as well as Hyatt and Westin hotels. The system was installed by the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills in 2011 and locally the HOA’s at La Casita and Bayview Terrace had the systems installed in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
The board will be sending out to each homeowner a letter explaining how the system works and requesting their input.
