WHEN YOUR DIRECTV STOPS WORKING
When your DirecTV stops working your first step should be to ensure that it is not something in your unit that is at fault rather than the building system.
-Check all the power connections and cable connections to ensure that everything is plugged in, the connections are tight and the batteries are working in your remote.
Many problems can be corrected by performing a simple reset of the DirecTV receiver. If the image freezes, the audio freezes, you experience a blank screen, or the system will not
respond:
-Press the red reset button behind the access card panel door on the front of the receiver and then wait for program guide information to be acquired.
-If the problem persists, unplug the power cord of the receiver for 15 seconds and then plug it in again.
-You may also run the System Test which is a basic diagnostic check of your receiver. To do this, select Settings, then Setup, then Info and Test. Highlight the System Test tab then press Select on Run Test. If your system does not pass the test, write down the error code you see on the screen.
If these steps fail to restore service then it’s time to report the problem to Consolidated Smart Systems, our DirecTV provider, at (866) 954-3434 and state that you are on the building multifamily system. Also report the problem to Scott Mgmt. at (310) 270-3696 so they can keep track whether it is a problem which is isolated to your unit or if it is a building wide system problem. Ask Scott whether other residents have reported a problem.
-If it is a building wide problem and 3 or more residents call to report a problem with their service, Consolidated will treat it as an emergency and will immediately try and get a technician out to the property to fix the problem. If you are the only one reporting a problem, they will treat it as a routine service call which normally takes them at least 2 days to respond.
-A quick way to tell whether it is just your equipment that has the problem or if it is a
building system problem is to call other residents in the building that have DirecTV and ask them if their TV is still working.
