If you have not replaced your fireplace in the last five years, it is almost certain that you have the older non-coated brass connector which can cause serious gas leak, explosion or fire. If you have replaced your fireplace recently, you should still have it inspected because your installer may not have changed out the connector.
Shown below is the Safety Alert that has been issued on these connectors and also a picture of what the connector looks like. It is a flexible tube that connects the fireplace controller to the gas source.
The board will be issuing further information concerning the inspection and replacement of these fireplace connectors.
