What's an emergency keyholder you ask? It's somebody in the building or across the street that can quickly open your condominium unit when you're not there. Why would you need someone to do this? As yesterday's flooding on the third floor proved, having immediate access to units can save thousands of dollars in water damage repair.
For the second time in two years, workman working in one unit, damaged a water line which resulted in the flooding of that unit and several adjacent units. Thanks to the quick action of several board members and the fact that emergency keyholders quickly open two of the three units, more extensive flood damage was averted.
It is highly recommended that, if you haven't already provided an emergency key to your unit to a neighbor or friend living in the immediate area, you do so in the immediate future. This is a cost free insurance policy and will help safeguard your unit, your neighbors’ unit and the building.
Don't let this be your unit.
